New venue: The Archduke
Robin will start performing at a new venue in London this month: The Archduke on the Southbank, near Waterloo Station. The Archduke has a long history of jazz and puts on live music throughout the week. Robin's first performance at The Archduke is on Saturday 4th September, 7pm-9pm, as a duo with Vilem Hais on bass. Robin will also be performing solo at The Archduke on Sunday 26th September. On both occasions, Robin will be playing and singing jazz standards and showcasing tunes from his upcoming new CD. NEW CD: Guest artists
Robin works with some fantastic musicians in his various performances around the Capital and has asked some to feature on certain tracks of the new album. Guests artists to appear on the new CD include: jazz singers Kirsty Jarvis and Sarah Ellen-Hughes, jazz saxophonist Gareth Lumbers, jazz trumpeter Neil Penny, and jazz flugel player Tony Royle.

NEW CD: Studio dates booked
Robin is heading into the studio next month to record his latest album with the Robin Phillips Trio featuring Vilem Hais (bass) and Claire Brock (drums). The album is the result of four years gigging professionally in London, where the lifestyle and the performances have lead to the album's concept. The ensemble are calling the style 'Groove Jazz' and the album will feature groove-based versions of jazz standards with a few surprises too. The album will be recorded at The Lodge recording studio in Northampton, a fantastic recording studio with a lovely grand piano and the ability to stay there whilst recording in order to get completely into the music: www.lodgerecording.co.uk.

Robin Phillips Trio launch new material at Summer Ball:
The Robin Phillips Trio featuring Robin on piano / vocals, Vilem Hais on bass and Claire Brock on drums, will launch their new groove-jazz sound at the Norfolk Summer Ball on Saturday 19th June.

The trio will be heading into the studio this summer to record a new album featuring the group's new sound, which merges funky grooves with jazz standards.

The Summer Ball take place at Caistor Hall in Norfolk on Saturday 15th June. Information and tickets are available from:

Jehane Markham Trio (JMT) CD now available:
A unique and original jazz / poetry piece, JMT's 'The London Series' is now available to buy on CD, following its launch at Free Word in Farringdon, London on 2nd June. At the event, JMT performed 'The London Series' in a double bill with actor Roger Lloyd Pack who performed T.S. Elliott's 'The Wasteland' with cellist Melissa Phelps. 

Robin is a founder member of JMT and composed the 'poetic symphony' with poet and playright Jehane Markham, along with bassists Graeme Howell and Jonny Gee. The studio CD also contains 2 bonus tracks of original jazz / poetry. JMT to perform 'The London Series':


Robin will be performing as part of the Jehane Markham Trio (JMT) on Thursday 3rd June at the Free Word Centre, 60 Farringdon Road, London, EC1R 3GA.

The performance of the group's original poerty / music piece will be followed by Roger Lloyd Pack (of Only Fools And Horses, The Vicar of Dibly, and The Old Guys) who will be reading T.S. Elliot's The Wasteland accompanied by cellist, Mellissa Phelps.

The performance starts at 18.30. Entry costs £10 and more information and tickets are available at Free Word Centrre's website or by calling 020 73242 2570.

Kir Royal Studio Day & New Audio:
Kir Royal, Robin's duel-vocal ensemble with jazz vocalist Kirsty Jarvis, has just spent time back in the studio to record new audio for the group. Kirsty and Robin were joined by bassist Vilem Hais at Lodge Recording Studios in Northampton where they laid down four new tracks: My Baby Just Cares For Me, Sunny, God Bless The Child, and If I Were A Bell. Duelling Piano Performances In Holland:


Robin will be in Groningen, Holland for two weeks from 3rd - 14th March for duelling-piano perfromances at the city's Great Pianos venue. Playing alongside a local pianist/vocalist and drummer the Friday and Saturday evening performances are notorious for their livliness. Robin will also be performing early evening slots on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the two-week slot. Click here for more information about Great Pianos.

Jazz Returns To William IV - Every Thursday:


Jazz returns to the funky William IV pub on Shepherdess Walk off City Road from February under new management. There will be live jazz performances every Thrusday evening and Robin will be performing there regularly in duo format. Click here for more info on William IV.

Jazz Returns To Shanghai Blues:
Robin will be performing regularly at Shanghai Blues throughout 2010 with the return of jazz to the cool High Holborn venue. Robin will be performing music from his upcoming album in duo format in the regular performances. See the gigs page for more information.

Trio Jazz At Old Bank Of England - Last Weds Of Month:
Robin will be performing in trio format on the last Wednesday of every month in 2010 at the beuatifully-restored Old Bank Of England on Fleet Street. Featuring piano, bass, and saxophone the trio will perform a selection of jazz standards to complement the fantastic decor and Fullers beers on offer. Kir Royal Perform At The Goring For NYE:
Robin & Kirsty are perfoming in trio format at the historic The Goring hotel next to Buckingham Palace on New Year's Eve. Famed for where the Queen Mother regularly took afternoon tea, the beautiful hotel is one of the finest in the Capital. Kir Royal will perform lively sets through the night taking guests all teh way through to Midnight to welcome 2010. Click here for more information on The Goring.

JMT Performs At Map Cafe - 3rd Dec:
The Jehane Markham Trio featuring Robin on piano and Jonny Gee on bass will be performing their Vladivostock to Moscow piece on 3rd December. The piece matches original music and poetry to describe the famous train journey through Russia. Click here for more info on JMT.

New regular performances for Make Mine A Double:
Make Mine A Double, Robin's jazz standards duo with saxophonist Andy 'The Lips' Cahn, will be appearing in trio format on the last Wednesday of every month at The Old Bank of England on Fleet Street. The Old Bank has been restored to its fantastic former glory by Fullers and the high ceilings and great selection of ales provide a perfect setting for the group. Pinstripe Suit play for Peter Beardsley's Tiny Lives Charity Ball:
Pinstripe Suit will be headlining the annual Tiny Lives charity ball hosted by legenary England footballer, Peter Beardsley. The band will perform two sets for the VIP guests to help get the party in the swing.

Make Mine A Double into the studio:


Make Mine A Double, Robin's jazz standards and Prohibition-era duo with Saxophonist Andy Cahn, heads into the studio in June to lay down some new tracks. Working on vocal harmony as well as piano / sax duo work, the team hope to give the recording a real feeling of the ensemble's energetic and fun live performances.

JMT head in to the studio:


The Jehane Markham Trio, featuring Robin on piano, is heading into the studio this month to record their original poetry / music compositions. The recording will include the groups two poetic symphonies: Vladivostock to Moscow and The London Series. The group are heading to Northampton to use The Lodge recording studios, where Pinstripe Suit recorded their last EP.

Pinstripe Suit play London's 100 Club:
Robin's 6-piece swing band, Pinstripe Suit, play London's famous music venue this month. Pinstripe Suit have been making a name for themselves in and around London in the past year as an exciting new swing ensemble, now they get to play for London's biggest swing night, Stompin' @ The 100. The group will also debut their brand new composition, Stompin' @ The Hundred.

Kir Royal invited back to Delia's:
Robin and Kirsty have been invited back to Delia Smith's restaurant for a new jazz series. Kir Royal will perform at Delia's each Friday in March as the restaurant welcomes back its popular jazz nights.

Pinstripe Suit play Norfolk's 'Big Swing Thing':
Pinstripe Suit have been chosen as the feature band for the Norfolk Swing Dance Society's annual 'Big Swing Thing'. The popular swing dance night brings together four different dance groups for a night of swing dancing and dressing up in the swing style.

Robin back at Claridges:


Robin makes a welcome return to Claridges this month, performing with the fantasticxally talented Chris Rodel on bass. See the gigs page for more info.

Robin returns to play at London's famous Dorchester:


Robin returns to one of the World's most famous hotels this month for two sessions. Robin is becoming a familiar face at the famous venue popular with the biggest celebrities, who obviously know where to hear great music!
